Dragons are amongst the most feared creatures in the paranormal world, nigh unbeatable and barely controllable. Every year, countless men and women with dragon potential are kidnapped and changed, their former lives lost forever. They are drugged to compliance and trained to fight in the notorious Pits for the profit of the crime lords who breed them.

Blaze has been a pit fighter all his life, and it is a life he hates. The only thing that keeps him going is that if he stops, he risks losing the only thing that matters to him his dragon Erie. Though pit rules say it's a bad idea to get too close to the dragons, Blaze has never been able to help it. He'll do anything to protect Erie.

Ken and his dragon Nevada were once victims of the pits, stolen from their normal lives and forced to fight. Now, they work to bring down the pits they despise, though the battle seems futile. Everyone who has ever tried has wound up dead. Stopping the pit fights once and for all will take a miracle—or a legend.

Sword of the King Dance with the Devil Book 5 edition by Megan Derr Literature Fiction eBooks

What a fascinating world Derr has created for dragons and their Owners. It's within the same world as books 1-3, of course, but this book's sole focus is on dragons, the pits, and the clans. You also get the history of dragonkind. I love that the dragons are always dragons, even in human form. They have basic necessities and needs, and these do not vary regardless of which form they are in. Even their human speech reflects their dragons-- brief, to the point, basic, not even full sentences. The devotion between dragon & Owner, in the true sense, not that of the pits, is amazing. And holy moly, when these guys get together-- fanning of the face.

Ken & Amr, Blaze & Rafael, and their respective dragons are all fantastic. This is an action packed two-fer romance. I especially found Ken endearing. I wish there was more with his dad and uncles, and the ending is a little looser than I would have liked, but truly, it's mostly because I didn't want the story to end. As usual with Derr's books, I totally enjoyed it. I would love to read more about her dragons. I can't wait to continue with the series, but I feel sad that I'm nearing the end.

Highly recommend this book and the entire series.

Sword of the King Dance with the Devil Book 5 edition by Megan Derr Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This is the first book I read from the Dance with the Devil series so I'm not too sure what the connection with the Devil is. I bought this book as I love Megan Derr work and like her world building. Eg. Prisoner and the lost series. This seem like a stand alone book as well even if it supposed to be a series. The story is very much as the blurb said but DERR give us a new world and how men become dragons and the connection to Arthur legend. We get to see different Dragons skills and not much related to the paranormal world, thus similarly to Amber Kell's Dragon men series maybe this should be a new series as well. The story actually introduce us to two couples and how they interact with their dragons. Plenty of sex involves as well. I will look forward to other books as the scope for plenty more when we get to meet the other tribes and even more of the powerful dragons from O'sea. This book is light hearted, you get the baddies though not overly dark and all the threads tight in neatly. Not keen on the cover as all as it's not that "heavy", would be better with some hot guys and dragons images?
The characters aren't gay for the sake of being gay, they simply happen to be gay. Rather than the conflict being, "Oh no, we're gay!" There are other - better - conflicts with the romance (keeping each other safe, not wanting to hurt current partners, etc.). All of Megan Derr's books have gay characters who are real people, instead of being consumed by their gayness, and it's wonderful.
This was another wonderful addition....I loved all the characters especially the dragons!!! I think my favorites were Rafe and Ken... off to book 6
I love Megan Derr's writing; this is a great addition to the series. The best part is I just found out there is going to be another two books. The next one is the Shield of the King, Arm and Ken plus some new characters. It will be out sometime soon I hope. I highly recommend this book, this series, and this writer.
I loved so much the dragon bits posted in Derr site that I had to buy this one, the stories are re designed to fit a novel and thats a good thing, I loved nev and blaze but I love this version so much more, I would love to see more of the cross brothers but that sure would be somenthing apart from this novel, if you like Derr style you are gonna love this ones, I think the relationship with DwtD is from the background of the characters, don't expect to see brenus here!
While dragons had been a part if previous novels in this series, this book is all about them so if you wanted to know more, this is for you. Unlike the rest if the series, this novel has no cases and focuses exclusively on the dragons and making a better life for them outside if the pits. Throw in some old world snobbery and a lot of UST and you've got a good story. It did take me by surprise how different this book was from the others in the series but I really liked it once I got into it and there is quite a bit of sexing provided so if you missed that in previous volumes, this one makes up for it.
I loved the idea of this story, who doesn't like dragons, but I just felt it was the weakest of the series, which is disappointing. It is far more brutal than the other books, but with the background of the pits it is understandable. All of the book was a lead up to the fight with the syndicate but I felt that the ending was wrapped up very quickly and quite easily, with too much still up in the air. What happens now to the rest of the dragons and the other syndicates that hold them?
The multi MCs didn't worry me, but not enough time was spent on the actual relationships. They all just seemed to fall together too easily.
